Thank once again. This guest is one that should be hired as a consultant by the conservatives. That way he can be of service without being highlighted. In other words, fight fire with fire, using the same techniques. The rot is deep and depressing. The good news is we have incredible journalists like Sam Cooper.

After his treatment by the Conservatives, why would he want anything to do with them?

Just more evidence that Poillievre will ignore foreign interference, influence and intimidation campaigns, unless he can use it to beat the Liberals over the head with it.

We are so boned. 🙁

The conservatives have been calling for foreign interference laws since day 1.

Unbelievable that the Liberals ignore this…but why am I not surprised?

They're not ignoring it because it's unimportant. It's because it would take down their government if exposed. The rot is deeper than any of us realize.

Thank-you for keeping the issue of foreign interference in the spotlight, Sam. Government and their media toadies want the issue to go away so Canadians forget about it.

Kaveh, a lot of us believe there is at least elite capture if not whole state agencies. Just look at the disaster in the US Justice system to appreciate how deeply the rot has set in. I'm very nervous about the CPC's commitment to cut out the cancer before our sovereignty falls to international interests. It's not negligence that stands in the way of honest investigation. It's people desperate to keep it hidden.

The courage of diaspora community members to speak out is absolutely critical in this debate as attempts at silencing or "canceling" others who come forward in favour of such things as a foreign agent registry with accusations of "racism", "xenophobia", "Islamophobia" etc. has become an all-too common standard method in shutting down debate in our society (as an aside: who is most ardent in imputing that Canadian society at large is guilty of said "-isms/ phobias"?) when such things are brought to the table (probably by sophisticated design, as conspiracy theory-like as that once may have sounded). But if diaspora communities become controlled/intimidated, undermined and untrusting, and if would-be honest dissident advocates no longer feel they are able to safely come forward and contribute their knowledge and point-of-view AND know that their contribution will be valued and properly put to use by officials who purport to be honest and well-intentioned representatives and guardians of the democratic institutions that are meant to protect citizens' interests and wellbeing and that underpin the state itself, then we are almost certainly, by this point, merely a lame and ruthlessly exploited pawn in the great geopolitical game unfolding around us.

What more can the average citizen do? Does writing an MP help at this point?

I enjoyed the podcast-type format here. Thanks again for the brave journalism, and to Kaveh for his courageous advocacy!

new subscriber Sam, thank you.... The Cons need someone like him in gov.... I have also read what terry glavin has written regarding the nomination process .... I do believe the Cons will get serious about foreign interference, (Poilievre recently gave a speech in Montreal where he stated under his watch the IRG would be labeled as terrorists) but am truly mystified by Kaveh's case. Maybe his line "they don't know what they don't know" tells us too much about "not wanting to handle a hot potato"
